I [29M] recently started dating my girlfriend [26F] of 2 weeks, things are moving kinda fast, and I don't want to screw it up. Tips?
tl;dr Have moved too fast in previous relationships. In a new relationship that I want to commit to, and don't want to screw it up by moving too fast, but things already seem to be moving fast.
Met her at a party in late July and we hit it off pretty good. I like her personal values and goals, they match well with mine. We are also both young professionals in the same industry (though she has one year left of school). I am 29 yes, but my attitude, personality, and even my looks are probably closer to her age. We have a good many things in common, and I am elated to say that as of Sept 1, we are officially a couple, after first meeting in late July.
We've been spending a lot of time together, pretty much every weekend, all day, and some weeknights. It is tempting to make up an excuse (or not, even) to see her because we are still in that beginning honeymoon stage, I guess, and I am really pumped to have her in my life, since I think we are both what the other is looking for in a serious relationship.
I am about to be moving into the big city to get closer to my new job, while she will be staying here to finish school, a little over an hour away, so I think that will introduce some distance which is probably good for us, but not so much that we'll be compelled to end the relationship.
I think one of the reasons my previous serious relationship (2 years) didn't pan out is that I moved too quickly in the beginning, emotionally, and I'm trying to avoid that. The other day I told her "I love you" quite by accident, it was more like she did something funny and it slipped out in the middle of my sentence, not like a 'capital L' love. I think she understood that, because she ignored it (or if I am lucky, did not hear it). But I feel that could possibly have gone a very different direction.
Anyway, I am just happy being with her, more just wanted to write about her to people, but if anyone has anything to add, I'm all ears!
