[24f] I have a callus on the bottom of my big toe, I'm a diabetic, and I'm starting to get worried. Advice?
- 24 year old, female, 5'10" height and 175 lbs.
- White and diabetic type 2 taking Amaryl for blood sugar control.
- I've had this callus for awhile [ longer than I have been diagnosed ] but now I'm getting more concerned about it. I have one on each big toe.
I cannot include a photo. It looks like a typical callus you'd find on the bottom of your big toe and it sorta looks like dry skin. It's numb but only a little bit and the skin is flaking off (I feel soreness from that). It's not heated or red or anything like that, thankfully. Not feverish, either. However, I'm concerned since I usually go barefoot and I haven't thought about how that might be affecting my feet.
I wanted to know if there's any advice I could have until I see my doctor again - if you could tell me what kind of lotion to rub on my feet, what I can do to help take care of this issue, and how I can prevent this becoming an ulcer in the future. That's the last thing I want and the thought of losing my legs to this scares me beyond belief.
Are there any tips or advice you can give me? Is there a certain lotion brand that is moderately cheap and good for a diabetic's feet? How can I maybe make these go away and not return later on?
Thanks in advance.
