Boyfriend (25/m) says he has been stressed, too many priorities on his mind to have sex with me (21/f)??
Hello! My boyfriend and I will make a year in October. When we first started dating sex was amazing, and constant. We would have sex late at night, in the middle of the day, right before work you name it. This was amazing for me because he is the one I lost my virginity to, and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring my sexual side with him.
He used to always be the one to initiate sex, and after a few months together I became comfortable doing the initiating as well. As of late, thought, his sex drive seems to have slowed down. I understand that this is normal in long-term relationships, and I am over his house a lot, but I feel like my needs are not being met.
He has a lot on his mind right now, we are planning to find a place to move into within the next month or so (money issues), and are going to take an anniversary trip in mid-October. He also wakes up very early to trade stocks, and has a full time job.
I understand that he has priorities that are more important than sex at this point in the relationship, but I feel like I am always the one initiating, and I get turned down so much that I am starting to feel stupid. Its not ever the physical pleasure I am looking for, more like that intimate connection two people get when they make love. Last time we had sex, I initiated, and we hardly even kissed before penetration; because it had been a while he came pretty fast, too.
I am not trying to rag on my boyfriend, I love him far too much to think about leaving him for sex with someone else. I just want him to be back to normal like when he used to be up for sex, it just made the relationship feel more natural, now I'm always worried. I am worried that while he says he just doesn't want sex because he is stressed, even after the stress goes away he won't want it. I would be mortified if I found out we weren't sexually compatible after years of being together.
Can someone give me advice? I told him last night that I won't stress him out about it, and will wait until after we've moved in together to initiate it. I am trying to be as supportive as possible but can't help but feel like I have no power in this situation. Whenever I want to have sex with him, I am at his mercy, but when he wants it he knows I will usually oblige. When I try to discuss it he gets really irritated.
Also, in his defense we are at his parents house most of the time, which makes it uncomfortable for him, but we are upstairs while they are downstairs, and we used to do it there all the time. I am also a full-time student and worker so=busy. Guys, any advice or similar situations that can help a girl out?
tl;dr Boyfriend of one year doesn't want sex as much anymore due to stress, I am suffering feeling like something is wrong and what if it gets worse from here. He says I have nothing to worry about. I want the old him back.
