Lens choices
Hi - I'm going to be buying a D3300 DSLR soon (within 2 weeks) and i'm still not sure which lenses to go for...
Option 1
Nikon D3300 Digital SLR With standard kit lens (18-55mm VR II) + Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G Lens
Option 2
Nikon D3300 Digital SLR Body with Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G Lens and the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 50mm f/1.8G Lens.
(so basically no kit lens - just having two primes)
Option 3
Nikon D3300 Digital Body with Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens + Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G Lens
I've never owned a DSLR before but i've been doing alot of reading for controlling iso, aperture, shutter speed, exposure, etc. I am looking for a DSLR mostly to take better quality photos of family, friends, girlfriend (who’s into make-up so good portrait quality needed hence the 50mm), special events such as friend’s weddings, my dog when she goes to the park as well as for a bit of hobby/travel photography (some landscape shots when I go travelling). Also – a camera which is good indoors is something that I’m particularly looking into which means low-light capability.
Few extra questions
-
Is losing a zoom capability a big loss?
-
Is the 18-105mm lens that much better for image quality/sharpness/etc compared to the standard kit lens (18-55mm)? Or not really worth the extra $$?

How close/far away can you stand from someone and take a portrait (body + face or face only), or a group of people (i.e. 4-5 people standing together from body up) with the 35mm and the 50mm? I've heard the 50mm can be quite "tight" indoors...
Thanks!
