Untangle install not connecting to the Internet

So my pfsense setup recently got corrupted after it unexpectedly lost power (circuit breaker tripped). Since I wasn't too fond of the interface I decided to take a look at other options and I've had nothing but problems. initially I was going to use sophos but all computer clients reported that the DNS server was untraceable. No matter what I did I was unable to fix this so I canned that install and tried untangle. The install process went fine and it wasn't until it came to setting up the wan connection that I had any issues. The problem was it would not connect to the Internet at all, it wouldn't even grab a public address through dhcp, and that's where I am now. I've tried the recommended tests outlined here http://wiki.untangle.com/index.php/The_internet_is_down all tests have failed, any help is appreciated.
