Filing a complaint with Alberta employment standards
I filed a complaint about not getting paid when let go for 'just cause' (I was wrongfully dismissed for someone else's personal reasons, but not much I can do about that) I gave the employer my info for a check. After waiting two weeks I contacted him again where he denied that I sent the information. I waited again, got a check for less then half the hours a worked. I filed a complaint. While waiting I contacted head office where I got an email stating the superviser will have to undergo a meeting about the wrongful dismissal and I will receive the rest of the pay "that I believe I am entitled to". I got the check about two months after my dismissal. I go to cash it, I didn't even realize. It's not singed! Can't be cashed. They are doing this on purpose. Do I need to keep attempting to resolve the issue when they are playing these games? Should I just keep it and wait until I hear from the employment standards? What are the penalties for this nonsense?
