Transfer student looking for advice. Just got screwed over by my program director and don't know what to do.

So I transfered to the U of C this year to complete the last 2 years of my degree. I received a late admission and due to this, I was only able to join the wait list for a class that is a pre-req for nearly every other class in my major. I spoke to an advisor about it and they suggested that if I'm not in it by the week before classes start, to contact my program director requesting an overload. So that ended up being the case and that's what I did.

When my program director got back to me, she told me should would not be able to overload me into that class this semester, and would instead give me a pre-req waiver AND overload me into a higher level class in my major. I said great, gave her the lecture section and lab and began attending class last week. This week I finally receive my email saying the pre-req waiver went through and that I can enroll, so I replied with an email saying that I've joined the wait list and still need the overload. Well she gets back to me telling me that she can't actually overload me into that class because she didn't realize when she told me the first time that it was scheduled in a classroom that doesn't allow overloads due to room restrictions. Now I've attended a class for 2 weeks and bought my textbooks because I was told that I would receive an overload. All of our correspondence was by email and I've taken screenshots of where I was explicitly told that I would receive both a pre-req waiver and an overload for this specific class and lecture section.

I feel like I've really been screwed over now and the most I've received from the program director was essentially "sorry I screwed up but now it's your problem."

I'm just lost for what to do at this point and seeking some advice. Has anyone else been through something like this? Is there someone else I can talk to that can help me out?
