Fellow record hoarders: How often do you purge your collection?

I've had hoarding habits basically my whole life, starting with CDs, then leading more recently into tapes and records. For a while I bought pretty much anything that grabbed my eye and/or was cheap, and my collection quickly grew to a couple hundred records, but I recently purged my collection, donated a huge box of dad rock to Goodwill, and traded in another box to my local record store, got some sweet deals from it.

This isn't a pity post, I know why I have my problems, but this isn't about that. How often do you trade in what you don't listen to? And how far into collecting did it take you to value quality over quantity?
