[Suggestion]Zulrah nerf discussion and proposed fixes
Firstly, i strongly believe that nerfing the drops would be a mistake.
-
It would fuck up ironmen, especially if you nerf the p-ess drop and many others aswell.
-
Some items are well deserved there, like planks, seeds, etc. They are hard enough to get as it is. Especially for ironmen. Lets face it, who really makes planks these days? Mostly bots, the mahogany planks would go up in price alot and they are already expensive as it is.
-
If it falls below nats, alot of people stop going there and no new people will bother learning the phases. People commingly mistake the boss to be easy, sure it gets easy with experience, but It was a tough boss to learn for many. Not to mention its grindy as hell.
-
Zulrah still uses alot of supplies. Its not like its free. Although experienced killers use far less than others and the boss can easily sustain itself.
-
It devaluing skills - I don't think this is true, people will still do the skills to achieve the stats. Forgetting that the skills that bring money in, also reward you in skill progress, be it towards a 99 or even a max account. Whilst zulrah gives you none of that, just pure cash and loot. In a sense you trade your time in PvM-ing to develop your mostly buyable skills.
-
Comparsion with nats: People seem to totally forget that
a) Nats are pretty relaxing
b) its static, not dependant on anything
c) It rewards you with a skill and its progress, whilst zulrah only gives you loot and kc. Both have a cosmetic "bragging rights" RC - cape, zulrah - pet and mutagens. And RC cape is by far the more respectable one anyway
d) Both take time to achieve efficiency, albeit zulrah quite abit less.
e) People act as if you need no stats to do zulrah. Sure 75/75 can do it, but at those levels you perhaps make like 800k profit also. If even that. You can also do nats at level 44 :) And blast furnace is pretty profitable etc. And so are easier skills, agility, cooking, mining in MLM. etc
The fixes:
-
Firstly, with the current death mechanic there is no risk and that is the problem. People doing 5 kills per inventory, because if you fail, well, you just use a tele and claim all your stuff back... All it needs, its a proper toll for the death. Say 50k-100k per death to claim all your stuff back. This would discourage new players, the same way a nerf to the drops would. But it would also be a valuable gold sink. Or perhaps take the average drop or 2 from zulrah, calculate the average price and make that the toll, to recieve your items back. In a sort, it would be why zulrah is so profitable, people who are better make better money.
-
Void being best armor - This is also wrong. Sure it takes time to get, etc, but still, its in many cases best in slot for zulrah. Void is a problem in pking also, there is no risk associated with it. Void should generally be the same as god capes etc, that you need to pay a fee to get it back. Wether that be in pking, or in zulrah.
-
Slayer requirement. It is a very rewarding boss and it is hard. So in a sense it should have it, besides this only needs a certain amount of time, for people to unlock it. I don't think this would be harmful for the community. Just makes it harder for people to gain access to such profitable content.
-
If it comes down to the nerfing, the nerf should revolve around items that are high alchable. But, they should be replaced with some other items that are lacking, or that bots farm. Not just bluntly removed or replaced with RDT
-
Battlestaves - Current income is mostly dailys, wyverns, zulrah and bots buying out the shops.
-
rune ores - Ironmen for example need high stats to utilize them. But 85 mining is very hard to achieve and the rune rocks are only accessable in low quantites or high risk areas. I propose a ticket from zulrah, that lets you visit an area thats filled with rune rocks once. For example you drop this ticket that allows you in an area that has high spawnrate rune rocks, you are not allowed to cast any spells etc in it. This means that a player can build up quantity of rune rocks, but needs the actual skill level to recieve them. Or sell for a profit to a player who can utilize this spot.
-
magic logs - Most of them come from bots, besides zulrah.
Why not to nerf P-ess:
-
It will fuck over ironmen, who have not farmed it. 99 RC will be impossible
-
If zulrah loses them, then people will simply just go back to buying them from NMZ and not a thing will change.
Please discuss. There are other ways to fix this, than just blatantly nerf it. No need for the content to be dead... Also, please view from the Ironman perspective aswell.
