Possible connection between Bloodborne and Dark Souls

It's been a while since I've played Dark Souls, but I was reading a fanfiction and I saw a high-res, close-up picture of one of the Bloathead enemies from the Oolacile DLC. It just occurred to me that the Bloathead enemies look really similar to a fledgling version of the Amygdala. The head has the same kind of bulbous look, and there are red eyes at random places on the head, similar to how the Amygdala with eyes looks except smaller. Also, the back of the Bloathead's head has what looks like miniature tentacles coming out of it, much like the longer tentacles on the heads of all of the Amygdalae except the boss version. Even the arms hang down, the way Amygdala's arms likely would if it had two-jointed arms like humans, instead of three-jointed arms as it does.

It's probably a stretch to imagine that Bloodborne and Dark Souls take place in the same universe, but at the same time I think that it is very interesting to think about. We know that humans can become Great Ones, and the lore in Dark Souls says that men will "assume their true shapes" in the Age of Dark. Do you think that there is a connection between the Great Ones and the Dark-corrupted humans in Dark Souls? Even if the connection is vague, such as the visual design in Dark Souls helping to inspire the design two games later, do you think there is a connection?
