[Discussion] Should a game reviewer with prejudice / favoritism against a game recuse themself from reviewing the game in first place?
Should they?
For example, Eurogamer on leisure suite larry, polygon on mad max and bayonetta 2 or Jim Sterling on senran kagura
These sites have huge ideological bias and it shows on their review. Should they recuse from reviewing the game ? [and find another reviewer that could review it on more objective point view]
Ideological bias turn the review into more as an attack piece, some might go far to say as an attempt to punish game that doesnt follow certain ideology [Mad max - polygon is prime example of this]
And in the end, the problem is with the games score.
Games score heavily affect make or break a games studio. Games like mad max have their game score reduced heavily because of polygon's review.
While i appreciate different view of games review, it is being used as way to push certain ideology and punish those who didnt follow their agenda
tl;dr: Game studio make or break based on games score -> game reviewer abuse these facts to push their ideological agenda
the perfect solution for this is either games media abandon games score or push game publisher so they dont use games score as indicator for livelihood of games studio. Which both is AFAIK is impossible
I dont want to see a game studio missed their bonus or closed because their game didnt fit with certain sites ideology
side note : i'm pretty sure many gamers and even in GG doesnt care if these review doesnt have any games score tied to them, because they DO and they use it as a way to punish game developer is why people are bothered by this. You could be as socjus progressive review as you want and review the game as unfair as you want as long as you dont have any games score tied to the review
