Veela: What are the basis for the Harry Potter beings and other unearthly women.

In the Harry Potter series there is a race of beings called Veela, beautiful women that have the power to attract/control and breed with men. I know JK Rowling likes to use Real Life folklore, myth, and legend in her books so I've been trying to hunt down mythological base points for such beings.

So far I've found the well known Sirens and the Vila of Slavic Mythology and I believe she threw in a bit of Harpy (as when the Veela become angered they can become hideous bird women) and the more modern versions of the Amaazons.

Can you guys think of anything else?
