Don't touch other people's things.

So this happened during my prep shift.

I begin as always, get in, heat up sauces for line, write out my list and tape it up on the wall, get my cutting board set up, get the knives I will need set out on my table, and start working.

I only needed my chefs, serrated, and a boning knife. Start working through my list. Just as i'm about to start cutting baguettes for crostini, one of the owners comes over , grabs my serrated, 'Hey, can I use this to cut a burger in half' then gets pissed when I tell them no. Lets not forget the fact, that at the server station, where this burger is, there are steak knives that could have easily done the job, in less time than it took to walk over and grab my knife, off my table.

I came up in kitchens where, before you even touched someone's knife, or kit, or /anything/ on their station or area, you asked first, then either the person handed you the tool from their kit or station, or said it was ok to get it from their kit or station, and then when you were done, you cleaned whatever you borrowed and gave it back.

What happened to common courtesy for someone's personal tools?
