I just lost my childhood cat Brittle.

Hey guys, I've never posted here, but I just lost the cat that I grew up with for 10 years. I got her when I was 7 and she was the most rambunctious little kitten. I live up in the mountains and she'd love to play outside and climb trees and hunt gophers. last week she went out to play and didn't return. Looking back I should've gotten some sort of tracking for her (I lost another cat, but she was 18 years old and I adopted her when she was 17 and didn't go outside often, also I wasn't too attached to that cat but I was still sad). Anytime I was having a bad day Brittle would come up to me and start kneading me. It'd always make my day a little less shitty. Anyway I feel really bad for her, I should've taken more care of her and now I feel really crappy. If I were to get a new cat what types of tracking would you recommend? Sorry if this is a little soppy but I think that anyone who's lost a loved animal will know how I feel. I'm also sorry I don't have any photos, I never liked taking pictures. She was a svelte calico with blue eyes.
