Pulled over tonight by a Sheriff

I recently hurt myself and my brother came over to hang out and take me to the store. As we were leaving CVS I spotted a Sheriff doing a uturn, after a few brief moments he pulled us over - the license plate light was out being our offense.

I couldn't help but think it was because we were in a low income area (Riverside + Wickersham). Fortunately for us we were white. But even with that privilege we had to wait what felt like 10 minutes to "run the ID" then two cops came back to the car, flashlights at the ready. That's when they realized his tag is expired.

The whole time I'm sitting there in discomfort hoping they don't try to get us out because standing right now is a ... slow process. I couldn't help but think of all the DUI deaths this year and other crime Austin is seeing. Two of Travis Counties finest , out there doing the heavy lifting. Following orders from on high no doubt.

In the end they took his phone number but didn't issue a citation or warning. I'm over 30 and have been pulled over "my fair share". This "no ticket but give me your #" business is new on me. When a cop is letting you "off" you don't exactly ask too many questions. I couldn't help but think of Stingray.

Frustrating for me, I see horrible drivers in this area all the time and not a cop in sight. Then these jackoffs come jam us up over nothing.

Started having a panic attack while I was sitting there. Glad they didn't notice and turn it into a "thing".

Keep up the good work, I guess.
