My boyfriend wants to take me to Eastern Europe, don't know if I should go because of homophobia
My boyfriend is Canadian born but his family has kept their ties in Bosnia/Serbia. They visit there every third summer. Next summer is third summer, since he last visited when he was 18. Next year he is going without his parents .He is already planning ahead and allocated the money he will likely spend and he brought up the idea of me going with him. He said it's going to be fun and exciting.I have saved a bit of money from working and I have a school fund,so I could use an exotic vacation and not worry about my tuition.
But I'm worried about the homophobia. He said we could keep a low profile, the younger generation is increasingly more indifferent and less homophobic and he can protect me if we get attacked by hooligans. How can we keep a low profile when I'm probably gonna be the only Asian boy in all of the Balkans, lol. And he is also planning to visit some relatives, his parents know about us,but we might have to pretend to be "friends" around their relatives,he isn't out to them yet.And I don't speak the language. However it will really make him happy if I decide to come along.
