[Discussion] Awaken Rules Question
So I'm sure this will get cleared up once the official rules for new mechanics are published, but I've got an itch to get this answered now.
Say I've got a spell with Awaken on it, like the new counterspell. I know that if I cast it for the Awaken cost, and target my Island, I now have a 0/0 colorless Land Creature - Island Elemental with 3 +1/+1 counters on it (with haste, if we're being pedantic).
Likewise, if I have Shambling Vent, and target it while it's still a land, it's a 0/0 Land Creature - Elemental with 3 +1/+1 counters on it that can turn itself into a 2/3 lifelink with 3 +1/+1 counters on it for a turn for 1BW.
But let's say I activate Shambling Vent's ability first, and then cast my Awakened spell, what happens? It is a 2/3 prior to the spell, and my intuition tells me with how layers work, it should be a 0/0 black and white lifelink after the spell since that layer applied second. However, when the 2/3 layer wears off, does the land remain a 0/0 creature (after losing its colors and lifelink)?
Feel free to point out any other incorrect assumptions I'm making or any rulings I have wrong :)
