What if you sniffed something so much that its smell goes away?
We know that smells are produced when certain chemicals from the object we are smelling, interacts with receptors in our noses.
If the object has a limited amount of such chemicals that can reach our noses, if we were to keep smelling the object, allowing all of the objects "aromatic" chemicals reach and interact with receptors in our noses, will the object lose its smell totally?
I am also aware that we smell something because it is a change in fragrance from what we were breathing in previously. If we were to smell perfume over 10min, the smell wouldn't be obvious to us anymore because our brain does not recognise the smell, which has already become familiar to us over that period of time.
If we were to ask another person to smell the object after we have smelt it and removed all of its smell (if that is even possible), would that person smell nothing from the object?
