Ember Spirit Item Build Suggestions

I was playing Ember Spirit yesterday and I ended up 8/12/18 with Two BF, Daedulus, Phase boots, Deso, bottle. Early game I went for Phase Boots, Bottle and Aquila. I don't play ember a lot and thus I don't know how to make him durable. Even in the late game he was pretty squishy. What do you ember players build on him to make him more durable?
