Random Vibrations

Recently my phone started vibrating randomly. Throughout the day it will vibe as if I got a message, or email but nothing will be there. Sometimes at night it will vibe for 5 seconds or longer until I unlock the screen and there will be no new notifications. Has this happened go anyone else? How can I fix this issue.
