Miasma [Vanilla] [SMP] [PvE] {Whitelist} {1.8.8} {16+} {Semi-Amplified} {Community-Oriented}

Despite our negative name (We really don't know where the name Miasma came from - and I'm the admin!), Miasma Server is a great sever for players looking for a community-oriented experience. Our server first started two years ago with 8 original players. The map was reset once last October, and we accrued many more players, but since resetting the server a week ago, we have discovered that Miasma only has about 10 active members... and it gets lonely sometimes. We would love to have you as part of our community!

Let's go over the tags up there in the title, shall we?

  • Vanilla: Yep. We're vanilla. No plugins whatsoever. We do, however, have two command block contraptions that enable 1-player sleeping and prevent Enderman griefing, as well as a custom villager.

  • SMP: Just what it says on the tin.

  • PvE: While PvP is enabled on Miasma, it is primarily a PvE server. That's not to say a little poking other members isn't tolerated - just don't poke with bad intentions.

  • Whitelist: This is not a public server. However, it is not hard to become whitelisted on Miasma. More on this later.

  • 1.8.8: We don't do snapshots (that's how the first season ended), but we will always be updated to the latest official version. It's worth noting that all versions of 1.8 will be able to connect, not just 1.8.8 exclusively.

  • 16+: We have set down this restriction because we expect our players to act mature at all times. All ages 16 and above are welcomed.

  • Semi-Amplified: We are using custom world generation on Miasma, adding more hills and overhangs, although it's not as crazy as normal amplified.

  • Community-Oriented: This pretty much describes the purpose of our server. We are just a bunch of kids (and adults, too!) who want to make friends and have fun!

  • Location: We are based in the U.S. but we welcome people from all over the world. In fact, we would love to get some people outside of the U.S., Canada, and Germany for a change (Though don't let that discourage you if you live in one of these countries!).

Server Rules

  • Don't bully or put down other server members.

  • Don't spam the chat or use overly inappropriate language.

  • Don't troll other players, or destroy/alter their builds without their permission.

  • Don't kill other players unless it is part of a specified PvP event.

  • Friendly pranking is okay, but you must 1) perform a constructive prank, not a destructive one, and 2) Leave a sign with your signature and a short description.

  • Don't place any type of wooden door above y=100 in the spawn chunks. Use iron doors, fence gates, trapdoors, or redstone doors instead.

  • When in a public area, such as Spawn Village or a community farm, don't leave clutter (e.g. random chests or crafting tables) just laying around.

  • Label what you have built. Label what is yours. Label the whereabouts of places that may not be immediately obvious to other server members. Label the instructions to contraptions that may not be immediately obvious to other server members how they work.

  • Leave suggestions on how to improve the server here on the subreddit.

  • Although not technically required, it is highly encouraged that you interact with other players, build with other players, skype or some other form of live chat with other players, and make friends with other players.

So, you've read all of that, and if you made it this far, I assume you want to be whitelisted. Here's how. PM me, u/Excalibur54, with this information:

  • IGN

  • Skype ID

  • Age

  • Gender

  • Country and Timezone

  • Your favorite aspect of Minecraft (redstone, building, automation, etc.)

  • How often you expect to be on the server

  • Whether or not you've been banned from a server before

Also, here is our subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MiasmaServer. It has a lot of very useful information on the sidebar if you are considering joining (and for current members as well).
