Am I a sellout?

Personal

Disclosure: I am 27 years old. So February of 2014 I was prepared to hike the Appalachian Trail, and make a big adventure of it. I even had P.O. Boxes planned out and prepaid for. Well, at my part-time job of 10 years, I finally got a promotion to a full time position. Full benefits, very handsome salary, and good position to meet people. Now, I had all of two hours to decide if I wanted the promotion. I took it, realizing that I would have to put my hike on hold. This was mainly so I could finally give back to my family, help take care of my nieces and nephew, and so I wouldn't have wasted 10 years of working at that place for nothing.

Since then: I was in a car accident that should have killed me, but instead I walked away without a scratch, I have mentored a lot of young adults who have worked under me, and I met the love of my life.

Anyways...I recently talked to an ex-girlfriend who I am still good friends with, and she told me, "You're a sell-out. The IdentityS I knew would have been on that trail, nearly starving to death, becoming the best classical and traditional modern poet in the world today." It struck me because she's not really a malicious person and it was strange to hear her say that. Is she right? If she is, does that make my choice bad? Am I supposed to be unhappy when I'm very happy right now?
