Please talk me out of drinking the Android: Netrunner kool-aid by poking as many holes in its gameplay as possible

Netrunner recently came onto my radar, and I find myself totally entranced. The asymmetrical gameplay, LCG style, cyberpunk aesthetic, art, all of them appeal to me heavily. But I feel deep in my hearts of hearts that this is one of those card games that I will spend tons of money on and then probably never find an opponent to play with that won't immediately grind me into the dust as seems to happen every time I get into a card game of this nature. Please talk me out of it.
