[tech] installation stopped with games sometimes (external HDD)

Does this just happen? It's done this since I got my external. I'll go to install something and sometimes I'll come back to it and it will say "installation stopped" and I just resume it and it goes back to downloading fine. Is there a way to fix this?

I am in the preview program now, but it even did it when I wasn't.
