'An S13 love story' Could use some advice.

Well i should start by saying i am currently driving a 97 Prelude. It's my first car, and i bought it last November. Before i bought it, i knew nothing about cars, but have fallen in love with JDM, and been learning how to work on my car and such. As i immersed myself in the culture, the S13 hatchback was the car that stood out most to me. The styling, the pop up headlights, those magnificent tails (both the 180sx and 240sx lights).

This love of the S13 was accentuated by the fact that my girlfriend's neighbor has black 92 hatch sitting in his yard untouched, and i drive past it multiple times a day literally every day. After months, i finally caught him outside his house working on his 350z yesterday and told him how much i loved the 240 and asked about it, and his plans with it. He invited my gf and i to come take a look.

From the street you can see it's slightly lowered on decent rims, and has an exhaust, but i guessed it was mostly pretty stock. Turns out it's a bit of a hidden treasure! The owner is a lifetime s13 fan, and has been building track s13's since he was a teenager. The car itself has a fresh ka24de build with only 1500 miles on it. It has a welded diff, short shifter, and has been partially gutted inside. He said honestly, his only plan with it was to beat the shit out of it til it dies. The only reason it's not running now is cause of some faulty sensors that he has, and just needs to install them and get the smog taken care of. He offered to sell it to me if i really want it. And i REALLY REALLY DO.

I caught up with him again today, and asked how much he'd let it go for.. All he wants is what he paid; $2200! It seems way too good to be true! Like am i blinded by my love for the s13 to see that something really fucky is going on, or is this a stroke of destiny?? If i sell my Prelude, i should have enough to buy the 240, as well as a new back seat to make it a bit more useful. What should i do Reddit? I seriously love this car, and my heart starts pounding thinking about owning it. Even if something breaks, the guy is right around the corner to help me fix it and is a really nice guy.

Edit: TL;DR I'm in love with the neighbor's s13 that seems to be a hidden treasure. Should i sell my Prelude for it?
