Need Help Persuading Stubborn Folk

Discussion

Quick apologies for a wall of text on my first post here. I've been passionate about supporting this campaign since July telling as many people as I can about Bernie and even starting up discussion about the issues at my college like he wanted, and like we should as citizens. As for my Reddit presence, I've been taking in all of the advice and ideas as I could and implemented it locally to the best of my ability.

It gets really hard sometimes to talk about anything with closed-minded individuals on the Internet or irl. It's not even a joke, it's equally as hard. The strategy to "shun the nonbeliever" like some other Bernie supporters like to do is already a challenge to correct and educate.

Education is my first answer to the issue of persuading our colleagues to do the right thing as well as persuading the closed-minded. Informing individuals with correct information will, more often than not, offend these individuals and/or just hurt their pride. Nobody likes to be wrong.

So here's what I suggest and have succeeded with: delivery. If we all manage to not seem so standoffish and seek for positive results in our arguments, then we should expect and welcome disagreement.

I'm not okay with an immediate "agree to disagree" policy with debating. But if it has to come to that, then nothing can be done. Curiously from what I have experienced with talking to plenty of people now, at least in a Fox News dominant state, is that the people I'm dealing with are largely misinformed.

So take it easy and don't take it personally when defending Bernie. Yes, he needs all the help he can get, and yes I know it's hard to talk to people who obviously hate us or strongly disagree with us. We need to follow Bernie's example and try to win over votes of the undecided as well as the ignorant (not to sound pretentious.)

So back to my title: what can we do about stubborn folk? Please share what you have succeeded with.
