When did the spotting system change?

I've just come back to war thunder ground forces, and i entered a game, and was promptly shut down by a seemingly invisible enemy who was directly in front of me. There was a bit of dust or fog ahead, so i couldn't really tell, but why didn't his name appear? I remember when you could see names of enemies that you had spotted and your teammates had spotted, but now it's seemingly only enemies 10 ft in front of you, and nobody who your teammates have spotted.
