Question about ticket and court date?

June 16th of this year, I was driving in Alabama without a license and there was a minor accident and I was simply issued a ticket for driving without the license (stupid, I know) and my court date was for July 28th. The officer, who was very, very nice, told me that if I got my license before my court date, it would curry favor with the judge and the fines would probably dropped and that if that wasn't feasible within that time frame, that I could call and request a continuance. I called about a week before my court date and asked about it and the woman on the phone told me that if I missed my court date for any reason, they would mail me a new court date. It's September 16th now, and I have received nothing. Is it possibly because it's an out-of-state ticket? What should I do?
