Shackles and Snakes
Shackles you adorn me in,
snap in half-
as heart and arms grow.
Evolution of a man creeps up slow,
while enigmas of an inner child are quelled on behalf-
of your original sin.
Hidden in gray hairs-
are tales,
of a man, who tasted blood,
and was dragged through the mud.
Borne by snakes, who hid their dazzling scales-
and injected their venom with diminutive care.
Snakes and shackles,
bow and break before true clout;
now vanquished. But not without scars-
that paint eyes bruised. Vision guided to the stars.
No doubt-
of the perfect clarity obtained by silenced cackles.
Feet firmly planted on soft ground-
direction hazy.
Smile creeps across fat lip,
blood drips- prepare to give demons the slip.
Walk past fields of daisies; feelings crazy.
We are the same; they and I. Yet I am a man- newly crowned.
