I thought that's what instant on is for? So it would download everything while the console is off ready for you coming on.

I have instant on, on! That's why it's so infuriating!

Enable Instant-on with background downloads.

I have these settings on and it still boots me to the update screen during prime playing hours. I had it today with Metal Gear, and months ago with Dragon Age, Wolfenstein, Dying light and Sunset. When I bought my Xbox I switched to instant on because I normally want to boot up the system and get right back in the game I was playing. I ticked download automatically because I didn't want to have to do it! The updates arrive during the day!!!

Nope, never had that happen, because I use instant On and background downloads.
I don't use Instant On, and I've still never had this happen.
