Dogs and other domesticated animals in The Walking Dead

So I stopped reading the comics a few years back so let me know if anything has changed, but why haven't we really seen any group of survivors using domesticated animals to much of an extent? It seems strange.

We have seen horses being used and it being shown that zombies eat animals too, making them a bit less of the ideal transportation that they would seem to be.

But have we seen any walled off group keeping livestock? I don't recall. It seems pretty obvious that if you were in it for the long haul you would want to start raising animals.

And then dogs. So far we've just seen abandoned dogs run amok or dogs being shown as a liability and a luxury for coddled, safe people. But surely a character who uses a very well trained scenthound could be at least as useful in hunting food as Daryl.
