[TOMT] Help an Ex-Way International Cultee find an awesome 70s/80s rock/contemporary dance film depicting heaven and defeating the adversary..
Hi there--I was raised in The Way International and stopped going around 14 years old because I felt weird vibes about the group...my parents were very invested in it. The video was from my childhood--watched in the late 90s. We used to have this VHS that may or may not have been created by the group...but I remember that the star dancer dude was well known to the church. I think it has a group of christians going into heaven and dancing around with a white set with some gym-looking equipment. I think they find a woman who is being tempted by a devil thing wearing a weird green mossy outfit. They kick the devil thing's but and save the girl. The finale involves a huge fight with the mossy creature and a big pit. I've been searching around for this for a while, but I didn't know what keywords to use. Maybe someone else remembers and had an interesting childhood like mine. :) We can talk it out. Thanks!

Hey, I'm way late to this party but I believe you are thinking of "Athletes of the Spirit"
I was raised in The Way as well and was recently looking for a copy of that video, but no dice. The lead dancer was Craig Martindale, from what I understand they have purged pretty much anything he might have done since his scandal. I think it may have even been "removed" before that due to how over the top it was.
I recently read "The Cult That Snapped" by Karl Kahler and he gives some of the behind the scenes stuff in the making of that video, as well as a lot more of his experience with The Way. Pretty interesting read if you care for it.
Hi robbiearebest,
Thank you so much for replying. Now I remember it all vividly, even if I can't find a copy of the vhs anywhere. I even had the coloring book! I'm just now learning about the history of everything. I will definitely check out that book.
