Show me around Richmond?

Tourist

Hey Richmond! I'm a student from the University of South Carolina who felt like exploring a new city and guess which of the few cities which Megabus goes to directly from Columbia I chose! If anyone would be so kind as to devote some time out of their Saturday to show me around or just hang out for a bit, I'd love to meet you. I'll be getting in at 11 this (Saturday) morning, and hanging around til Sunday morning. I'm a 20 year old male (sorry to disappoint), so PM me if you're interested in meeting!

when you get off the bus, i would recommend heading south to the canal walk. then head west alomg the river and up through oregon hill to VCU. have lunch at lamplighter and hang out in the fan. to get back, walk up to broad and take a cab (or if you have $1.50 in exact change, take a GRTC 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 bus) back down to MCV/shockoe bottom

If you're passing through Oregon Hill, stop by Hollywood Cemetary. Once then the gates, stay to the left for views of the river.

Dang if I didn't have work today this would have been a cool thing to do - I hope you find someone and enjoy your stay here!

Richmond was great! It was pretty much a bigger, nicer Columbia-- their histories are pretty similar, so it makes sense. It seems y'all had a big cycling race pretty recently? Bicycles were EVERYWHERE, which I loved. The people who were out seemed very active and healthy-- deserving of a Whole Foods, I daresay. It was good to see people were using the riverwalk. There was one area on the canal that was basically a big atrium and had art all over it, which was super cool. I loved y'all's statehouse and its grounds. The lamplighter was a good walk away, which was fun as I didn't have much else to do! It was very good-- I understand why it was so crowded! The Edgar Allan Poe museum was somewhat disappointing, but only because I'm not very interested in old belongings of important people. I guess I wanted more literature there. Overall, it was a fun stay and the people were friendly. The Jefferson Hotel was stunning! Thanks for a good weekend!

I visited Columbia SC many years ago and thought pretty much the same thing! I enjoyed your city much more than Charleston, which we visited on the same trip. We stayed at the Inn at USC. Enjoyed it all. Rocking chairs, sweet tea, free cookies.

Really? See, I'd say Charleston is a much cooler city than Columbia. What turned you off to it?

probably the fact that it's "cooler". the columbia people just seemed way more chill, less party people.
