A Thousand Lights
This is an abstract poem that I wrote regarding a personal topic. It is open-ended and left to interpretation of the reader:
Colourful lights, hanging from the walls,
Dancing to a rhythm, winking playfully,
The thousand gorgeous eyes.
Take care to protect them, they can fuse away,
One eye at a time,
Shutting one at a time.
Million colours glow,
Brighten the sky,
And they will multiply,
Because the brighter they shine,
The brighter the day.
Crystal chandeliers float,
From skies above,
Drenched in sweet colour,
From head to toe.
And as for me, I watch,
I watch and wonder about the skies,
Filled with colourful lights,
Hanging from the ceilings of the clouds.
My gaze, aligned forward,
Parallel to the road that lies ahead,
The thousand lights that light the way,
Thinning darkness drop by drop.
And I wish for a sweet kiss,
To slap me across my cheek,
Bring a storm of sensations,
Tingling my delicate skin.
The brighter I smile,
The brighter are the lights,
For better or worse,
This is my guide.
