Star lit night

One night a elderly astronomer was looking to the starlit night one last time,

He remembered a poem he heard as a young man that didn't rhyme-

"As you look upon the starlit night, remember- don't shed a tear,

If you do your tears and very soul will (be?) lost that starlit night"

He gazed upon the star and shed a tear so his soul will be in the stars for this starlit night one last time
