Respect Medusa (Soul Eater)
Background
Medusa Gorgon is one of the primary antagonists of the manga/anime Soul Eater. Her motivation is to cover the world in madness using her child Crona simply to change the status quo.
Vector Magic
As a witch, Medusa is capable of using magic. Medusa's main magic is particularly versatile and employs vectors.
-
Vector Arrow: Medusa's main form of attacking, it summons numerous sharp arrows to pierce foes.
-
A variation called Vector Wall can be used as a defensive tactic.
-
Vector Plate: A spell that creates an arrow shaped plate on the ground. Anything above the plate is launched in the direction the vector is pointing at high speeds.
-
Medusa can use several to fly across the battle field at high speed.
-
Medusa uses numerous Vector Plates to trap an opponent in an arena.
-
Vector Drill: Medusa spins several vectors around her arms as a drill and stabs people.
-
Vector Ball: Medusa uses a mass of vectors to trap opponents in a tiny ball. Compression is optional.
-
Vector Boost: Medusa places an arrow on a limb, which doubles force in the direction of the arrow. One time use per vector.
-
Vector Conduct: Makes arrows invisible to those Medusa doesn't wish to see them. Useful for giving directions.
-
Medusa uses a vector as an extra limb capable of supporting her whole weight.
Snakes & Other Magic
Medusa is thematically linked to snakes, and utilizes them in combat with her vector magic. She is also capable of lesser, more utilitarian spells.
-
Soul Protect: A spell designed to help witches hide from a Meister's Soul Perception. It disguises a witch's soul as a normal human soul.
-
Arithmetic Magic: A spell used to help aim other attacks with great precision.
-
Later in the series, it allows another character to snipe opponents on the moon from Earth.
-
Medusa can use a crystal ball to observe events occurring far away.
-
While Medusa is never seen using it, all witches can transform into animals. Medusa's is likely a snake.
-
Medusa's body stores thousands of snakes, which she can place in other people to make them explode at will.
-
After being infused with madness, Medusa's snakes became more powerful.
-
Soul Transfer: When "killed" Medusa transferred her soul to one of her snakes. She then used this snake to possess Rachael Boyd.
-
Medusa was still able to use all of her magic. However, her physicals were still on par with a young girl.
-
Due to this, Medusa enacted a plan to steal the body of her sister Arachne.
-
Medusa does not use this technique lightly, and it was only possible because of the presence of the Kishin's madness amplifying her magic. Medusa would not risk this under normal circumstances.
Science Stuff
Medusa is a scientist, and has created several combat relevant things.
-
The Clowns: The clowns are insanity given form, and occur naturally as a byproduct of the Kishin's existence. Medusa has made two artificial clowns. The Black Clown that fuses with Crona, and the portable Violet Clown for her own personal use.
-
The Violet Clown assists Medusa in repelling mental attacks from madness wavelengths.
-
The Violet Clown also infuses Medusa's Magic with madness to increase it's power.
-
While never used directly by Medusa, her Black Clown will follow her orders and fight.
- It possesses the Black Blood, giving it great durability, a variety of attack options, and causing hallucinations with it's own madness wavelength.
-
Medusa does not use it personally, but she did create the black blood. For a full list of what the black blood is capable of, refer to Crona's Respect Thread.
Personal Feats
Medusa is a witch and primarily uses her magic, but that doesn't mean she's a pushover in a physical fight. She's also a great single mom.
-
Medusa tanks multiple attacks directly to her soul in rapid succession from Stein. She tanked another one and blocked two more during this same fight.
-
Moves fast enough to shove her hands in Eruka and Mizune's mouths before either can react. She also planted dozens of snakes in the bodies of both without either noticing.
-
Medusa is bisected, and manages to stay alive long enough to keep attacking.
-
Previous hug was a ploy to convince Crona she was an imposter (since Medusa would never be that loving) and get killed by her own child to drive Crona complete insane. It worked pretty well.
