Trading Colin Kaepernick for Peyton Manning is a horrible idea...or is it?

Kaep is done here and Manning probably doesn't have the physical ability to start any more. Here is how it could benefit both teams...

  • They are both due around $19 million next year. That is a ridiculous salary for a backup (let's be honest, Kaep isn't going to be starting for a quality team any time soon) but Manning has one more year on his contract and I bet Denver would rather pay that much for a backup that might have a future over Manning who might have a seizure or stroke...or whatever old people get.

  • Peyton comes to the Niners and backs up Gabbert in more of a mentor ship than anything else while laying the ground work for his 2017 take over as the Offensive Coordinator. He has tons of experience in this position and would certainly be an upgrade.

  • It's a bit of a risk on Denver's part but let's be real, aside from the Niners, who else is dumb enough to pay $19 million for someone that is 3 plays away from retirement?

  • It would seem to be a clear investment into the future of the Niners and would give some justification for leaving the rest of the coaching staff in place.

Our front office is pretty much guaranteed to make the worst decision possible from here on out. Maybe this idea is so bad that it can come all the way around and be a great idea?

I'm sure I'll be crucified here for this suggestion but whatever...I'm not trying to win the Internet or anything like that.
