Stuck on "Welcome to your Alpha" screen

Hey all. I recently picked up an Alpha as an early Christmas present for myself. I am a university student and we have funny wifi rules. Apart of that is that you have to register your devices to be able to go onto the wifi. So when the screen came up about connecting to the wifi, I plugged in my ethernet and signed into the wifi. It did not go through as I have not registered the device yet. I skipped that step and moved on. I am now at the "Welcome to your Alpha" screen and cannot get past. It says hit A on the controller and I do so for the screen to reload. I am honestly at a loss on what to do because nothing but A is responsive and I can't get on the wifi in the first place to get past it. I don't have anything to make a hotspot to try that out and I'm rather frustrated because there is nothing I can do. I can post a video if need be but it is quite literally as I described.
