Versatile Weapon Master feat

Feat

After adopting several of the feats posted by u/Bronze_Johnson in this compendium I found myself wanting something for versatile weapons. I began building from his Master Swordsman feat, and ended up with this:

Versatile Weapon Master

You take full advantage of the versatility offered to you by your weapon. You gain the following benefits while wielding a weapon with the versatile property and nothing else.

  • Your AC increases by 1
  • While wielding a versatile weapon in one hand, when a creature within 5 feet makes a melee weapon attack against you and the attack roll equals your AC, you can use your reaction to force the creature to re-roll the attack. If the new attack roll misses, you can make one attack against the creature as part of the same reaction
  • While wielding a versatile weapon in two hands, add your proficiency bonus to damage rolls of 1 or 2

I've been bouncing around several different ideas to use for this, including an attack as a bonus action when using the dodge action, adding +1 and +2 AC to one and two handed grips respectively, and even a variation of the parry mechanic.

My goal with the feat is to make the versatile property mechanically attractive. I've tried making the feat strong to encourage use of a single versatile weapon (without a shield), but not overpowered and stepping on the GWM feat, which imo should be the most powerful style.

Critique?

EDIT: thanks to everyone who gave advice. This is the new version that I will be implementing:

Master of Versatility - you take full advantage of the versatility offered to you by your weapon. You gain the following benefits while wielding a weapon with the versatile property.

  • You may don and doff a shield as a bonus action
  • While wielding a versatile weapon in one hand, once per round when a creature within 5 feet makes a melee weapon attack against you, you can force the creature to re-roll the attack. If the new attack roll misses, you can use your reaction to make one attack against the creature
  • While wielding a versatile weapon in two hands, your AC increases by 1 and you can add your proficiency bonus to attack rolls of 1 or 2
