After 2 years, I [28 M] need to break up with my [27 F] live-in GF, but she has become dependent.
My girlfriend and I have issues that I don't think we can resolve. Well, SHE has issues I don't need to be involved in. I love her but she is tearing herself apart more than I can't keep her together. A lot of the problems seem to revolve around me one way or another; I think it's ultimately her avoiding dealing with real problems [fucking passive-aggressive] but none of this is my point.
I'm tired of it. I've been tired of it. I've put all I can into this, done everything except marry her because I don't fucking feel ready for it and now at least three times a week she's asking why I won't marry her, usually with crying involved.
She's got a job paying $15 an hour. That sounds like a lot to me, but she seems to be short. She's got a 2014 car she's paying on a 5[?] year loan. She's got $40K of student loans she's paying minimum on. She's giving [don't know real numbers here] no less than $100 a month to her parents because they are in a bad way. I pay rent and have been paying utilities the last several months (originally I paid rent and she paid utils but then student loans and stuff came in...) but she handles her phone bill, insurance, etc. I don't know how much she has left after a check but I get the impression it's not much.
The cheapest rent in town is around $300 a month but we've lived there before, and that's gunshots-every-night territory. It would be hard to find something comfortable/safe under $500. If nothing else, she could move in with her parents and be paying them "rent" as the money she's been giving them but I don't think that's a good idea for her psychologically (her mother is the reason for half her insecurities and other problems --then again, maybe that would force her to face the problems. I don't know). Her best friend (in town) is married with child and probably can't take her in; she doesn't really have anybody to be roommates with.
On top of this, I already know she's not going to take a breakup softly. I wouldn't mind giving her a month or three or hell even continuing as roommates but she practically brags about being a bitter bitch when she feels like she's been hurt. I don't think she's dumb enough to physically threaten me or my property but she probably would not feel bad about taking every advantage she could thereafter (e.g. I expect lying and emotional betrayal at every turn).
tl;dr: GF's dependent; I don't wanna kick her to the curb but we can't stay together anymore.
