970 vs 390 dilemma

looking to upgrade my gpu. Currently using an r9 270 in my i54690k build but only have a corsair cx500 500w psu. So the dilemma is whether to buy the 390 for $340 and a new 750w psu for $60 or just buy the 970 for $329. All advice is welcome, thank you.
