Husband drinks, pretty much every day... and doesn't think it's a problem.
My husband is a bartender and server, which is certainly an enabling profession in regards to his 'habits'. He's in his 30s now, and he can't start the day without drinking something along the lines of nearly 50/50 split rum and soda.... "To get over his hangover" the thing is, it's never just the one drink. He'll by a bottle, and finish half+ in a night, he bought a fifth last night, and when I got home from work today it was over halfway gone.
This is pretty much a daily thing... but he doesn't see the problem with it, then gets pissed at me when I bring it up. It's always "I've slowed down my drinking!" which, granted... he's slowed down his going out and drinking. It's at a point where I know I can't rely on him to do the things he says he's going to get done, because he's too intoxicated to stay focused, on top of his ADHD (which I'm starting to think is a result of his habit....) I want him to get help, to see what he's doing to himself, to our relationship, and to me. I hate having no faith in the person that is suppose to be my partner in life, and feeling like I have to monitor him so that our money doesn't "get lost." I want someone that I know I can trust and rely on... fall back on, just like I try to be there for him to fall back on but it's starting to get way too hard to do anymore. I'm feeling angry, resentful, hurt, disappointed, and lost. It's affecting everything... and it's way too tempting to just walk away because it's feeling more and more like a train wreck....
This is me just mostly ranting, and also looking for... anything. Any kind of help, suggestions... what worked for others, who had similar situations. I know he cares about me, but he doesn't realize that it's just like a drug habit... he has to keep drinking, and so that's his priority, even if it runs us into the ground.
