Why did Darth Jar Jar force jump into the pond?

As the theory goes, Jar Jar Binks is pretending to be an idiot non force user. My question is, why did he force jump into the lake? If he was trying to conceal his abilities, would've it been easier to simply walk in? That seems like a really dumb thing to do?

Some ideas I had: This reveals another layer of Darth Jar Jar. Although he is intelligent, he is also very cocky. Double Lie Gambit: He did that awesome jump so that if someday someone accused him of concealing his abilities, that would be evidence that he did not. This implies he is extra manipulative.

What do you think? What did he force jump?

Also, even though I tagged this disproof, I thinks its more of a lose end than anything else.
