Your gameplay decides if PlushTrap and Nightmare BB are canon to your playthrough.
Basically, I believe the reason you skip 2 hours when you win one of these minigames ISN'T because they help you or anything that would break what we know of the nightmares, but rather that in the time you would usually be doing the normal gameplay you are instead doing that minigame, thus the minigame just literally takes up 1-2 hours of the nightmare until you move on to the actual game.
Now if you fail this, it is quite obvious from the blood splatter that PlushTrap and Nightmare BB kill you. But we know that won't fit into the lore, and thus the gameplay begins as if you never did the minigame, restarting the night and making them non-canon to your playthrough.
Alternatively, if you win, they take up that said amount of time and since you don't die you move on to the main gameplay, making that minigame canon to your playthrough.
This might seem very irrelevant to the game as a whole, but it fixes the issue of the nightmares skipping the one or two hours of gameplay despite that breaking the lore, WITHOUT using the excuse: "because video-game logic".
