Old Sites/Entries in MSDCS

I have inherited an Acitive Directory. it had old objects created in Sites and Services. some of these sites are no longer existing. I have removed the objects in S&S but they are still showing up in DNS under Forward_lookup_zones>MSDCS>GC>Sites. I want to clean this all up. is it safe to delete those or is there a better way to remove them?
