The age-old question... how do you make peace with death?
The question is fairly self-explanatory, but for some context:
I'm almost 21 years old and have been struggling with anxiety/depression intermittently for most of my life and all of my "formative years". As such, I've spent most of my life romanticizing the idea of suicide and death in general. Even during my more stable and healthy moments, the thought of eventually killing myself and ending this existence has lingered in the back of my mind.
Now that I'm getting a bit older and have been placing more emphasis on self-growth through things like meditation, introspection, and of course psychedelics, these thoughts have faded. However, I believe that because I romanticized death too much to really develop a personal understanding of it thus far, it's causing an irrational level of terror that has been slowly creeping up as my overall level of anxiety and depression has faded. I was just wondering how people in this subreddit in particular feel about the idea of death, how they make peace with it, or what they do to embrace that fear and uncertainty. Thanks!
