I have a 5 y/o male, neutered rottweiler who is almost bfinished with 2nd round of antibiotics for an ear infection and he doesn't seem to be "cured".

I'm wondering what the next step might be after 2 failed rounds of otic suspension antibiotics.

His infection was bacterial and I think they said it was called COCCITT. The first ear drop was Mometamax and he's now almost done with Posatex. His ears don't appear to be visibly infected, no "gunk" or redness but he still has a bit of head shaking (really not a lot anymore) and when he tries to scratch his ear sometimes he whines although I don't know if that's because his ear hurts or that it hurts his hips to reach his back leg up to his head. He has minor hip dysplasia, diagnosed about 2 years ago. He is otherwise in good health.

My question is, if he still has this ear infection, what would likely be my vet's next plan of action? I live in a suburb of Kansas City, MO and our vet is about an hour away.
