Use webOS 2 to play media from network file share without additional server side software?

I'm thinking about buying a LG smart TV with WebOS 2 seeing as how I've heard so many good things about it. I have one question that I haven't been able to completely confirm so I thought you webOS 2 users might be able to shed some light.

I have a simple SMB share on my network. I want to play files from this share. Nothing huge, just rips, usually no bigger than 5GB. I do not want to run Plex or any other software on my server. I just want to play the files like a WD Live TV device or Kodi install can.

Can webOS 2 do that?

Thanks
