Looking to buy this firebird, what all should I expect?

I'm looking at an automatic, 96' firebird with 179k on the body and 30k on a rebuilt, LT1 motor. It has an aftermarket air intake, ws6 hood, and a B&M shiftplus for IDEK what. All in all, it seemed like a solid car with no rust or leaks, and drove pretty smoothly. Asking price is $1800.

1. Should I get extended warranty insurance on the car? If so, which providers are the most reputable and reliable?

2. Are there any particular issues I should look for next time I look at the car?

3. Is it a good deal for the money? The owner claims its 345 hp. I'd probably pin it closer to 300 based on research, but it's still nice.

Is there anything else I can get that's 95 and up with similar performance under 3k?
