Having difficulty getting Shift 2 (on PC) to detect a USB Xbox One controller.

Hi all.

I bought Shift 2 for the PC a few days ago and wanted to get the best out of it, so I bought an Xbox One controller. My PC detects it and it turns up in device manager and says the latest drivers are installed, but the game itself acts as if it isn't there and only responds to the keyboard/mouse.

Does anyone know how I can get Shift 2 to detect the Xbox one controller?
